The story depicts the tale of two noble jagirdars of lucknow and their obsession for the ancient game of Chess. The game drives their obsession so much that they both are oblivion about the current scenario, where colonial british troopers are organising a realistic chess field to overthrow the Nawab of lucknow.

The Fall of the House of Usher: Edgar Allan Poe


It is one of the greatest gothic horror ever written. Monihara (The lost Jewels) - Rabindranath Tagore


It is one of the greatest all time classic of Tagore from "Golpoguccha" ( A collection of short stories). The story starts with the local school master telling the writer about the history of the Saha Manor , where nearlly twenty years ago a horrific supernatural incident took place. The enrinching character of naive Phanibhushan Saha and the Jewel obsessed Manimalika had made this short story into a Masterpiece.
